Mario Kaona es uno de los percusionistas colombianos con mayor proyección en el género del jazz latino; Se caracteriza por hacer de sus obras, un mar de sensaciones distintas y cargadas de sabor latino para el disfrute de su público.
Ubicación actual Medellín, Colombia - A partir de una de las formas musicales más importantes en la época actual como es el jazz, de su influencia sobre otros géneros musicales y de la libertad que este le permite a los músicos que lo interpretan, se da origen en la ciudad de Medellín a la Sursidejazz Ensamble, un agrupación de jóvenes músicos que desde hace tiempo vienen experimentando con el jazz y con las opciones, muy diversas por cierto, que el género ofrece. Además de conformar a la Sursidejazz, sus miembros han integrado diferentes agrupaciones de jazz y música latina en la ciudad. El amplio repertorio de la banda habla por si mismo, desde los eternos clásicos y famosos standars del jazz hasta sus propias composiciones que acogen sonoridades del jazz latino y la descarga, el swing, el bolero, la salsa y la música brasilera.
